Lecture Series "Methods in Materials Science"

Date: Wednesdays according to the announced program
Time: 9 – 11 am (c.t.)
Location: Seminar room MAINZ, Staudinger Weg 9, third floor, room 03-122

The focus of the lecture series relies on research methods and techniques in material science. For the MAINZ students, knowledge of available methods and techniques in material science outside their own project will be a big benefit and an important part of their training. It can also strengthen the collaborative aspect of the interdisciplinary graduate school.

Internal or external speakers are asked to highlight in a concise lecture of about 45 minutes an exemplary method of their work. The talk will be followed by an intense discussion of the topics raised in the lecture. The lecture should not be too specialized and allows also those MAINZ students to follow who are not directly working in the field. The lecture series as a whole is intended as a survey of selected hot topics in the area of materials research. It is particularly encouraged to emphasize the challenges and the future directions in the various fields as well as the interdisciplinary cooperation which is required for achieving the scientific and/or technical goals.

It is intended that the lecture series serves as a regular meeting point for the MAINZ students and stimulates interchange. Accordingly we will continue our previous tradition and start each lecture with a free breakfast.
