Learn ‘Why we cannot make life’ by MAINZ Visiting Professor Bert Meijer in a public lecture (abstract attached). This lecture will be worthwhile for anyone interested in natural sciences – or philosophy - but even an expert may still be able to learn a lot. Bert Meijer is very successful with this public lecture in the Netherlands and will now, for the first time, present his view about the origin of life on earth in Mainz. Be part of this special premiere and meet Bert Meijer to discuss why the creation of life is much more difficult than science fiction suggests!

When: January 25, 6 pm

Where: C 03, Lecture Hall Chemistry, Duesbergweg, JGU Campus (location changed!!!)

No registration needed. Limited number of seats available! ...

This workshop is organized in the context of the newly established center on "Multiscale Simulation Methods for Soft Matter Systems", which aims at bringing together two complementary areas, Applied Mathematics and Soft Matter Science, to tackle some of the most fundamental challenges of multiscale modelling. Since women are underrepresented in both fields, the purpose of this workshop is to provide a platform where highly established female scientists and female junior researchers from both fields come together, get to know each other, and discuss their experiences. ...

08.09.2015 - 11.09.2015: Greenhorn Meeting 2015

The Greenhorn Meeting is an annually held conference on quantum optics and related fields. It provides insight into recent research and is offering a platform to share your experience with other young scientists. The Meeting changes venues every year, coming to the University of Kaiserslautern in 2015 and covering the topics of quantum optics, photonics, and ultracold quantum gases.

The conference aims at young researchers, that have recently started their PhD or are working on their Master's or Dipoloma projects. It gives you the chance to exchange your know how with other scientists in a relaxed atmosphere. You are kindly asked to introduce your own research by presenting a poster and giving a 20 minutes talk. The number of participants is restricted to 40.

The International School and Workshop at the Technische Universität Kaiserslautern (Germany) provides pedagogical introductory lectures as well as research talks upon both anyon physics in general and their possible realization in the realm of ultracold quantum gases. Due to the mutual support of the VolkswagenStiftung and the Graduate School of Excellence "Material Science in Mainz" as well as the Sonderforschungsbereich/Transregio 49 and the Research Center OPTIMAS this International School and Workshop is the second one of three conferences on this intriguing Topic. ...

This MAINZ application talk is designed to enhance your communication and networking as MAINZ students with regards to application experiences.

The Mainz Materials Simulation Days are a series of discussion meetings focusing on method developments in computational materials science.
Main focus of the 2013 meeting is charge, energy, and heat transport in organic materials.
