This symposium will provide an introduction into modern spintronics, covering their physical principles and the materials used for magnetic devices. After this introduction the magnetization dynamics and the mechnisms of magentic switching will be discussed.

The international workshop on "Statistical Mechanics: Interplay of Theory and Computer Simulations" will take place at the Johannes-Gutenberg University of Mainz in 2012, September 19 to 21.
