New experimental methods need to be developed in all scientific areas to advance scientific progress. In addition, knowledge of engineering aspects is a valuable asset important for future employment in industry. Within this technical training area Method Development, we offer basic lectures by partners, external faculty, and from industry, providing insights into method development and an overview of engineering and interdisciplinary skills needed. These lectures are complemented by contributions from partners providing professional method development for industrial applications. Besides profiting from general lectures given by industrial partners, our PhD students benefit from the long-standing method development expertise of MAINZ PIs, who give specialized lectures on developing and optimizing instrumentation for highly specialized research tasks.
