The school offers introductory lectures on physico-chemical concepts, electrochemistry and state-of-the-art theoretical approaches. Understanding the mechanical aspects of materials is important for utilizing materials for any application in industry or academics. Students will be given a general introduction into engineering concepts relevant to the mechanics and rheology of materials, such as stress-strain response of materials, mechanical instability, elasticity and viscoelasticity, viscosity, and flow of materials.
PhD students interesting in learning about aspects of mechanical properties of materials with emphasis on polymers. Students interesting in polymer science, materials science, soft matter, and materials engineering are encouraged to attend.
