Within this workshop we will visit DESY in Hamburg. DESY is one of the world’s leading accelerator centers. Our tour includes lectures and labs visits at the large scale research facilities located at the campus in Hamburg Bahrenfeld. We will visit the 3rd generation synchrotron radiation source PETRA III, offering unique experimental possibilities in condensed matter physics, material science, and physical chemistry. At the Center for Free-Electron Laser Science we will learn about recent developments on ultrafast experiments and get an impression experiments at FLASH and the new hard X-ray laser XFEL.
Accomodation will be settled in the guest house on campus (costs to be covered by yourself ~ 72€ pP).
The bus bringing you there and back again will be organized and covered by MAINZ.

Tuesday 24 morning: PETRA III
